Carved Animals Workshop – Glasgow
Thursday 9 & 23 March, 6–8pm
Torrisdale Street Studios
Glasgow G42
Sliding scale from £25
6 places available for each date
Adapting the traditional Japanese Kurinuki method of carving tea bowls out of a single block of clay, this workshop will invite participants of all ages to sculpt an animal – real, mythical or imagined – using basic handbuilding tools.
I will guide you through the initial sketching and carving process and demonstrate different techniques for adding personality and embellishment. In the last stage of the workshop participants will paint their animals with coloured slips. I will add a clear glaze after the bisque firing to ensure your beast is ready for the harsh conditions of the wild, and notify you when it is ready to be picked up.
The workshop is designed for all skill levels – beginners and children are more than welcome!
Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Sliding scale:
Precarious/Unemployed/Struggling: £25
Doing alright: £40
Pay it Forward: £55
